High-low with Declare Draw Poker
Other draw poker games applies some features that make it distinct to other poker variants. Some employs the simultaneous declarations and other variants uses not only a single draw but mutiple ones. Below are two draw poker variants and their specific plays.
High/low with declare draw poker
This draw poker variant is widespread in home games although rarely seen in casinos today. High/low by declare is played similar traditional 5-card draw poker, but this game has an instantaneous "declaration" done after the second round of betting and before a showdown takes place. Individual player seizes two chips (token) from his pile and lay it blow the table, and afterward shows a closed-fist which may contain a chip (denoting his intention of winning the high half), two chips (denoting his intention to make a scoop) or no chip at all (denoting his intention of winning the low half.
As soon as all players have shown their closed-fist, then they will simultaneously open their hands to disclose of their choices. Scooping the pot happens when a player reveals two chips, and proved to be the best of both high and low hands. Otherwise, his bet is divided equally between player who owns the high hand and to a player who holds the best low hand.
Winning the high hand or the low hand needs no preliminary round; and if there is no united stand by players on a particular hand the pot goes to the other side,( as an illustration, if each player declares low, then the low hand is rewarded the entire pot or vice versa). A player declaring a scoop who declares for a scoop has got to win both hands outright, and ties not accepted.
For example, suppose one player announces scoop, clearly winning the lowest hand, but ties with the high hand, therefore he doesn't win. The pot is then divided equally between a player who holds the high hand and the other who holds the low hand provided he declares.
This draw poker game can be played with the 2-7 low or Ace-6 low combinations (hand) values, but in this situation, winning by scoop is next to impossible (however a player might still be rewarded of the entire pot if all players agree with his direction).
Double-draw and Triple-draw poker
Any draw poker game mentioned above may be played using two to three draw stages therefore having three to four round of betting. Triple-draw lowball games, either Ace-5 or 2-7 hand values has reach some recognition among draw poker players. In the World Series of Poker held last 2004, a 2-7 triple-draw event is included, and in the 2007 edition of WSP also featured an event of triple draw.
